A century of musical connections can now be heard around the world.
The Music School of Delaware is proud to announce the release of The Music School of Delaware at 100: A Century of Musical Connections, a landmark recording celebrating the School’s 100th anniversary. Now available on major streaming platforms, the 12-track album brings together Music School students, faculty, alumni, ensembles, and guest artists — and includes seven world-premiere recordings.
More than a commemoration of the Music School’s first century, the album represents an investment in the artists who make our community what it is today. The project created opportunities for students and faculty to participate in a professional recording process, gave composers a platform for new work, and captured performances that can now reach listeners well beyond Delaware.
Music School faculty featured on the album include David Auldon Brown, Margaret Swinchoski, Melinda Bowman, Paula Nelson, Scotty Horey, Chris Braddock, Gina Perregrino, Genia Maslov, and Liliya Maslov, with additional performances by students, alumni, guest artists, and Music School ensembles. The Delaware Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Simeone Tartaglione, is featured on four tracks, including the world-premiere recordings of His Eye Is on the Sparrow and Zoe Yost’s City Under the Coral Sea.
The album spans an extraordinary range of music, from chamber and solo works to music for voice, percussion, strings, and full orchestra. Its seven world-premiere recordings are particularly meaningful: they allow the Music School not only to celebrate musical history, but also to contribute something new to it.
The Music School extends special thanks to faculty member Vladimir Dyo, whose vision, partnership, and dedication were instrumental in bringing this ambitious project to life. The album was produced through Blue Griffin Recording and Global Music Partnership, with Vladimir serving as Executive Producer, Sergei Kvitko as producer and engineer, and Simeone Tartaglione as artistic director. Over the course of the project, their work helped transform an idea for the School’s centennial into a professionally produced recording that represents the depth and breadth of our musical community.
The significance of the project was also recognized by the City of Wilmington. Mayor John C. Carney issued an official Tribute honoring the Music School’s 100th anniversary and specifically recognizing MSOD @ 100: A Century of Musical Connections as a landmark recording project. The Tribute celebrates the project for uniting faculty, students, alumni, and guest artists; providing students with professional recording experience; and sharing “Delaware’s musical voice” with audiences around the world.
For 100 years, generations of students, teachers, families, and artists have been connected through the Music School and a shared belief in the lifelong power of music. A Century of Musical Connections captures one moment in that continuing story, honoring the artists who came before us, celebrating those creating music here today, and making space for new voices that will carry the Music School into its next century.
The Music School of Delaware at 100: A Century of Musical Connections is streaming now on all major platforms.
