showcase flyer In a grand spectacular at The Grand Opera House, The Music School of Delaware’s exceptional ensembles will perform “center stage” in one exciting concert. Over 200 student and adult musicians in more than 10 chamber music, choral and orchestral ensembles will perform in this fast-paced, collaborative concert featuring Delaware's finest student and amateur musicians. MUSICBUILD 2011 — a contest for young inventors

Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and ingenuity in the invention of a new musical instrument or an original device that creates musical sounds. Complete contest details & application form here.

DAVID BROMBERG STRING PRIZES

The David Bromberg String Prizes will be awarded to promising violin, viola and cello students enrolled at The Music School of Delaware. Prize recipients will receive a bow donated by David Bromberg Fine Violins. Applications are due Saturday, March 26 by 5:00 p.m., auditions will take place on Saturday, May 7 and prizes will be presented at the Showcase. (Please note that the application deadline has passed.)

Founded in 1924, The Music School of Delaware reaches thousands of people from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland through its instructional programs and 75 public performances each year. The Music School is the only nationally accredited program of its kind in Delaware and is the only statewide accredited community music school in the nation. The Music School offers standard-setting instructional programs for all ages including the Early Childhood program, Suzuki Academy, private study and ensembles. A faculty of nearly 100 expert artists and educators are among the best-trained musicians in the country. Open to all, the school administers a financial assistance program to help ensure music excellence for everyone, regardless of financial means. The Music School offers programs at branch locations in Wilmington and Milford and at over 25 satellite and outreach locations in Kent, Sussex and New Castle counties.
