CLASSES FOR YOUTH & ADULTS:
The foundations for ALL music study!

OVERVIEW

With classes ranging from beginning to advanced levels, The Music School of Delaware offers a variety of classes to support and enhance your musical education. Composition classes offer students the opportunity to express and refine their own musical ideas. Music history classes provide an essential background for performers and enthusiasts alike, using focused listening activities to help students review, analyze and compare the works of each era and allow for more meaningful study and performance experiences. In addition, group classes at both branches (Wilmington and Milford) are perfect for beginning and intermediate students, providing excellent instruction in a fun and supportive group environment.

The Music School’s sequential music theory curriculum enhances music appreciation and provides a framework for understanding the language of music. Theory concepts apply directly to private studies, so students progress more rapidly in their lessons and gain a deeper, more thorough understanding of the music they study and perform. Beginner and Elementary classes use the acclaimed Music Mind Games and Theory Time® materials, while Intermediate through Advanced classes correlate to specific levels of the Delaware State Music Teachers Association (DSMTA) curriculum. Theory placement exams are mandatory for all new theory students and will be administered by appointment; call the front desk to register. Knowledge of subject matter (not simply age or length of private study) determines class assignment. Specialized theory or composition classes for advanced students may be available by request.
