The Music School of Delaware Congratulates Students on Recent Achievements
(WILMINGTON, DEL.) April 5, 2011 – The Music School of Delaware announces the winners of the 2011 Wilmington Community Orchestra Concerto Competition for Young Musicians: Chloe Braynen of Garnet Valley, Pa., piano student of Lotus Cheng, 9-14 age group; Angela Li of Hockessin, flute student of Lynne Cooksey, 15-18 age group; and Conor McAvinue of Wilmington & Chris Dahlke of Wallingford, Pa., violin students of Shelley Beard Schleigh, additional winners. The runners-up are Marius Sander of Wyoming, violin student of Eliezer Gutman, 9-14 age group; Emma Scott of Bridgeville, violin student of Elissa Wagman, 15-18 age group; and Jhordan Gardner of Woolwich Township, N.J., viola student of Shelley Beard Schleigh, additional runner-up.
The Music School congratulates student winners in the high school division at the Delaware National String Competition at the University of Delaware on March 18, 2011: Nathan Lowman of Wilmington, violin student of Kate Ransom, won first place and audience prize; and Emma Scott of Bridgeville, violin student of Elissa Wagman, won second place.
Music School students Chloe Braynen of Garnet Valley, Pa., piano student of Lotus Cheng, placed third in the piano/violin category and Rachel Rice of Wilmington, cello student of Jennifer Stomberg, placed second in the other instrument category at the Kennett Symphony Junior Instrumental Competition on February 12, 2011.

Founded in 1924, The Music School of Delaware reaches thousands of people from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland through its instructional programs and 75 public performances each year. The Music School is the only nationally accredited program of its kind in Delaware and is the only statewide accredited community music school in the nation. The Music School offers standard-setting instructional programs for all ages including the Early Childhood program, Suzuki Academy, private study and ensembles. A faculty of nearly 100 expert artists and educators are among the best-trained musicians in the country. Open to all, the school administers a financial assistance program to help ensure music excellence for everyone, regardless of financial means.
