The Music School of Delaware Welcomes New Board Members

WILMINGTON, DEL.) October 5, 2010– The Music School of Delaware, the state’s only nationally accredited statewide community music school, welcomes two newly elected members to its Board of Directors. The new members are Veronica Eid and Lawler Rogers.


Veronica Eid has had a long and distinguished career in education. She has held teaching positions in language education at the University of Delaware, Delaware Technical Community College, Tower Hill School and Ursuline Academy. She received a master's in French Literature and bachelor's in French from the University of Delaware. She is also active in many civic organizations including Delaware Humanities Council/Forum, W3R (Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route), DuPont Hospital for Children, Distant Voices Touring Theatre and University of Delaware Women’s Club.


Lawler Rogers has had a distinguished career as a music educator, arts administrator, performer, conductor and organizer and promoter of multicultural activities. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from Virginia State University and the University of Michigan, respectively. Mr. Rogers was an honored recipient of the Governor's 2000 Award for the Arts in the category of Arts Education. He has served as music conductor for the Arden Singers, Brandywiners and OperaDelaware and has served on the boards of the Christina Cultural Arts Center, OperaDelaware, the Delaware Symphony, Kuumba Academy and the Delaware State Arts Council. In the spring of 2005, he was selected by the Christina Cultural Arts Center as a recipient of the 2005 Christi Award for outstanding achievement in Arts Education.

Founded in 1924, The Music School of Delaware reaches thousands of people from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland through its instructional programs and 75 public performances each year. The Music School is the only nationally accredited program of its kind in Delaware and is the only statewide accredited community music school in the nation. The Music School offers standard-setting instructional programs for all ages including the Early Childhood program, Suzuki Academy, private study and ensembles. A faculty of nearly 100 expert artists and educators are among the best-trained musicians in the country. Open to all, the school administers a financial assistance program to help ensure music excellence for everyone, regardless of financial means.
